STATE
Terrific performance by our guys (1st ever win) and girls (best finish in largest class) on a tough warm day in less than ideal conditions. Only our 2nd double podium in 19 years of school history.
When our varsity teams reach their potential it reflects the hard work and commitment of our entire team... all the runners, parents, volunteers, booster club members, pasta dinner coordinators, tent crew. The boat moves only when we all pull on the oars together. TOGETHER is always better!

SECTIONALS
Good team running on a day that ended up warmer than ideal. Next up. State.
>Guys varsity first scoring 40 pts after being 117 at the 1 mile mark.
>JV guys 1st with a nearly perfect score
>Varsity girls beat Walton for 2nd on a tiebreaker
>JV girls 2nd behind Marietta, also beating Walton
MILE MADNESS
A fun way to finish off the season for some of our team.
Good energy, fun costumes and fast running.
Fastest top 5 and top 10 averages in the 13 year history of the event. Our fastest team ever at WFHSXC!

COACH WOOD
What a great day to be a Wolvernine!
We won 3 out of the 4 championship races. 1st team to do that since 2010 when Brookwood swept all 4 races.
While we STILL didn't get ideal temperatures, the course was nice and firm and fast so time reflected that.
25 guys and 20 girls ran lifetime PRs.
Guys set a new school record (fastest in Coach Wood meet history) @ 15:41.
Girls 2nd best in West history @ 19:27

PICKENS
Pickens always seems to make our team grinnin.
Night races, while fun, aren't usually ideal for running your best as it puts us out of synch with our normal running time of day.
Great experience for many to be counted on to score for the team in varsity and JV races. Didn't see the pressure get to be too much for our team.
50 lifetime 5K XC PRs sounds pretty good to me. I expects to see a bunch more at Coach Wood

GREAT AMERICAN
Unless you run in college, you won't run a cross country race with as many good teams and runners as Great American.
It is one thing to run in crowded fields, something all together different when all the runners are fast!
Good experience for all our top runners. Reminds them that competition is what this sport is all about.
Thanks for our boosters and parents to help out with logistics necessary to pull off out of town trips. Your assistance is priceless.

SOUTHERN SHOWCASE
We go to meets like this for 2 reasons.
First, we feel like team bonds, friendships and memories are made that make our team stronger.
Second, we want to compete against the best competition around to help us aspire to be as good as we can be. Teams from GA, AL, TN, FL, MS, NC, KY, OH, PA, WV
Our team did a great job and were very responsible on the trip. You represented yourself and our team great.
We earned several team trophies which are very difficult to get at a meet like this.

CARROLLTON ORTHO
Tough conditions, tough course but we are a team of people who are up for challenges.
Special shout out to our JV athletes who exceeded expectations in their 1st look at the state meet course. Not sure how we had so many girls run PRs!
No team victories. Can't win them all, but we can try!
Girls ran on average :28 slower than Blastow. Guys :48
Average guy passed 35 runners. Average girl 21.
Hills had bills that had to be paid. Now you know.

BOB BLASTOW
2 hour bus ride, muddy course, humid morning made for not a PR kind of day for many
JV guys and girls take home convincing victories
Varsity guys squeek by for a win
Short handed varsity girls still snag 3rd place
Thanks to the tent crew for the early morning, long morning. Thanks to the folks helping with race #s and chips. Thanks to the parent who drove athletes home when we had a bus break down.
Hoping our next race will have fewer surprises

CHEROKEE CLASSIC
We have estimated the guys varsity race at 2.37 miles and all the other races at 2.17 miles in length.
4 team victories is a great start to the season.
After adjusting times to 2 miles, we are faster than same race last year. On average girls :47 & guys :39 better.
On average, we we passing people in the 2nd half of the race. Girls averaged 5 places better, guys 6.
It was a sticky humid morning. Not the best race conditions.

TEAM TIME TRIAL
The primary purpose is to use this as a dress rehearsal so our athletes nail down our game day process.
Additionally, our time trial serves as a "rust buster" to help our athletes remember what it feels like to have game day jitters and then go try really hard.
From a performance perspective, this is the best team time trial result we've had at WFHS on this course. Maybe any course.
Good attitude and effort today. Good captains leadership. Grateful for parents support

DOG LOOP TEMPOS
Several things to learn, both for the coaches and especially for the athletes.
One thing to especially consider is your long term progression. Most of our upper classmen have come a long way since their first Dog Loop tempo.
What I am most impressed by is the progression out athletes have made over the last months and compared to previous years.
Consistent running pays off!

THE WEST WAY
Our team first vibe means everything to WFHSXC. We will celebrate every runner's journey towards finding their best self. WFHSXC state results rank with the best in the large school classification.
We will strive for team excellence at all levels. Varsity & JV both matter. Each person matters.
We can be both very good friends and very good runners all at the same time. Pursuit of team friendly culture and championship level performance are not mutually exclusive goals but are instead symbiotic
