WEST REPRESENTS @ COACHES INVITE

West athletes took home 2 individuals titles at the most prestigious regular season meet on the high school track and field calendar.

Defending 7A state champion Jack Haller won the pole vault and remains undefeated on the season.  Kyle Brown was the discuss champion and currently has the 3rd longest throw in 7A this season.

West distance runners had strong performances in the 4X1600M relay (guys 2nd and girls 3rd fastest time in school history) and 4X800M relay (girl's & guy's both #2 all time.

SEVERAL STRONG EARLY SEASON PERFORMANCE

Girls win a tight team battle, scoring 51 points to squeak past Collins Hill (46) and Flowery Branch.

Keys to team victory included top 3 sweeps in the high jump & 3200M and top 2 finishes in the Pole Vault.

Stand out performances included. Ella moving to #7 all time in the 400M, Clarissa #10 in the 300M hurdles, Abby #9 in the discus & Leah tie #10 in the high jump.

Guy's team places 2nd with 51 points, a scant 2 points behind Flowery Branch.

Team points came from a variety of sources, but the West pole vault nation and Kyle Brown's throwing domination certainly helped.  Kyle set the school records in the shot on Thursday.  His throw of 49'-2.5" currently stands #3 in the early season all class rankings!

GOOD START TO THE SEASON.   PICKENS DUAL

Both the guys and girls got dual meet wins over Pickens County.

Stand outs included......

Kyle Brown.  Wins the shot in #2 performance on the West all time list with a 5' PR which currently ranks #3 all class!   Kyle also wins the discus and sets a new school record!

West thrower Ben Simerly also flexing his muscles, moving to #3 all time with his 42'-5.5" PR throw in the shot.

Josh Spiller slips into a tie for 10th on the all time list with his 9'-6" pole vault clearance.  West Pole Vault Nation dominance continues into 2018.

Chloe Cobbett moves into the #4 all time position in the long jump with her 17'-4" mark which ranks #1 in the state all class as of 2-16!

Ella Madsen makes her West track debut storming to a #9 all time 27:78 200M for the victory and doubles back in the open 400M with another swift winning performance.
