2026 JUNE -DOG LOOP TEMPO #1
WHAT DO ALL THESE #s MEAN & HOW USEFUL ARE THEY?
> Solid indicator of fitness for experienced runners.
> Great chance for new runners to try to dial in tempo paced effort.
> Helpful to begin grouping runners into smaller training groups and assigning paces for workouts.
> It is really too early to be projecting PR times at the end of the season, but were included as "ball park" guestimates.
> We all want to run fast, but keep in mind that places in races matters more than times in XC.
THINGS TO CONSIDER?
> Change in '26 1st dog loop vs 1st one in '25 & previous years
> For new runners & freshmen, how do your result match up with what older runners did at your age?
> Do you feel like you ran a tempo effort? Could you have run another loop at the same pace? We were looking for a "comfortably hard" effort.
> Missed the first one or want another chance? We will do another dog loop tempo in July.
> Now that we have run the dog loop, it feels like the season has really kicked off in style.
